Health Education Roundtable AIC in UGM Faculty of Medicine

FK-UGM. This time the Faculty of Medicine UGM is hosting the Health Education Rountable workshop by The Australia-Indonesia Center (AIC). The workshop, held July 26-27, 2017, discusses medical education in Indonesia and Australia with the focus of Non-Communicable Disease (NCD). Heart disease becomes the biggest cost burden in BPJS.

Through this workshop, hopefully will trigger the spirit in medical education to be more innovative and better. Thus able to educate the prospective doctors in order to prevent and reduce heart disease. "It is hoped that with a medical education workshop focusing on NCD disease, there will be research in Indonesia that can improve the community about the risk of NCD disease," said dr. Achmad C. Romdhoni, deputy health coordinator of AIC.

Dean of Faculty of Medicine UGM, Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG (K)., PhD also attended and welcomed the attendees of the workshop. Not to forget Prof. Ova welcomes and enjoys fun discussions, nice dinners during the event.

AIC is a collaborative program between the Australian and Indonesian governments that involve several universities in each country. The focus of cooperation in the field of health cluster, energy, infrastructure and food and agriculture. The strategy of health cluster research projects is related to NCD disease which takes five key themes, namely system monitoring, nutrition in children, burden of adolescents related to NCD, health education, and medical education.

In addition to UGM, the workshop was held for two days, followed by representatives from University of Indonesia, Airlangga University, Hasanudin University, Bogor Agricultural University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Rutgers WPF Indonesia, Murdoch Children's Research Institute, Indonesia Pediatric Society, Ministry of Health, University Of Sydney, the University of Melbourne, WHO, and AIPKI.
